This panoramic drivng tour through Skagen and its surroundings showcases the rather idyllic lifestyle of a seaside town in Northern Denmark.
As you travel, watch for the Skagen Museum of Local History and catch a glimpse of the two types of fishermen's huts -- 'rich' and poor.
Your tour takes you past the Klitgaarden, former Royal summer residence now a resort for authors, artists and scientists. Watch for the Hulsig Heath -- a protected landscape offering one of the largest dune heaths in Europe.
The Raabjerg Mile is the largest migrating sand dune in Northern Europe. Originally this dune was formed on the west coast in the 16th century. The Great Sand Drift saw it completely bury a church.
Seaside hotels line the route to Kandestederne, where the Danish author Karen Blixen worked on her famed novel, Out of Africa.
Continue to Old Skagen to see fashionable seaside hotels and the typical, yellow Skagen houses. You're headed towards Grenen Isthmus. Your guide will explain why Skagen has four lighthouses, and why the isthmus is called 'the twig'.
A drive through downtown Skagen brings you back to the pier.
