This abbreviated tour allows you to view both Weymouth and Portland in an agreeably snappy fashion.
Pass through Weymouth on a panoramic drive along its romantic old harbor. Head down the Victorian Esplanade that meanders along the beachfront. Its strand was once the stomping ground of royalty, frequented by King George III. Take photos during a stop on the beachfront.
Head to the Isle of Portland -- one of the many jewels on the star-studded Jurassic Coast. Learn about the island's darker history, when it was a paradise for smugglers, and about its importance during World War II.
You will stop at Portland Bill -- a lighthouse atop a dramatic coastline, warning sailors of the rugged cliffs below for centuries.
Finally, make your way back to the pier, pausing to photograph the stone Olympic Rings. These rings are a landmark in the local harbor which hosted some events of the 2012 Olympics. A viewpoint here offers an outstanding vista over the Jurassic Coastline.
Notes: Tour consists mainly of sightseeing from the transportation. Stops are brief and participants can remain in the vehicle.
