Stunning countryside, a drive along Nordfjord, a hike in the Kjenndalen Valley and a lake cruise to Kjenndalen Glacier make this half-day adventure a true gem. Norway's scenery is front and center, and the wonders of Jostedalsbreen National
Park make for fabulous take-home memories.
Travel into the vast and beautiful wilderness of Jostedalsbreen National Park — home to the largest ice sheet in mainland Europe. More than 37 miles in length, the Jostedals glacier divides into three major arms and is more than 1,312 feet deep in places.
Take an easy hike through this wonderful landscape to the face of the glacier. It is an intense blue-green color that is the stuff of postcards.
The Kjenndalen Mountain Lodge welcomes you to relax over coffee or tea, and to enjoy delicious waffles.
On the shores of the jewel-like Lake Lovatn, you will hop aboard a small motorboat for a twelve-mile cruise on the lake's turquoise waters. You guide will explain how the color comes from clays washed down from Kjenndalen Glacier.
Head back to Olden through more jaw-dropping Norwegian countryside.
Notes:
Wear comfortable, sturdy walking shoes or hiking boots. Dress warmly in layers with a windproof and waterproof outer layer; bring a warm hat, gloves and a scarf. Bring a backpack to stow any layers you shed.
