First, you'll travel by coach and ferry on a three-hour panoramic drive through the Romsdal area. You are headed to the gigantic Trollstigen (Trollwall) -- Europe's tallest vertical mountain wall. It is 5,950 feet from the valley to the top of the wall, of which 3,300 feet is sheer vertical. Pause for a buffet lunch en route.
One of Norway's most beautiful rail routes is the Rauma Railway -- the highlight of your excursion today. Hop aboard -- your scenic 45-minute train journey begins at the village of Dombås and travels 70 miles down the Romsdal Valley. The line opened in the 1920s as a branch of the Dovre Line between Oslo and Trondheim. Enjoy Norwegian nature and countryside from the panoramic windows -- it's a spectacular landscape of fjord and mountain scenery.
Your trip ends in Åndalsnes, and you will return to the ship by coach and ferry.
Notes:
Minimal walking required. This is a scenic tour with sightseeing from the coach and train. The order of sights may vary. The tour involves long bus drives. The tour duration is approximate and may differ depending on the train/ferry departures.
