You will travel across heather-clad hills to the Scalloway Castle Viewpoint. Scalloway is the former capital of Shetland, where Patrick Steward, Second Earl of Orkney, built Scalloway Castle in the late 16th century. The tower house has been restored over the years, but nothing remains of the surrounding walls and buildings.
You will continue via the tranquil landscapes of the Tingwall Valley, replete with Norse heritage, to the Wormadale Viewpoint. Dramatic vistas encompass the islands that make up the archipelago.
In Tresta, see the few trees that grow in Shetland.
Visit the Brekenlea Pony Stud to meet adorable and opinionated Shetland ponies. Some beautiful Shetland collie dogs are anxiously waiting to make your day.
Return to the pier via the northern light-industrial side of Lerwick.
