If you love nature and have an interest in seabirds and seals, this is the trip for you. Travel by fast boat to the remote Noss Island Nature Reserve to see the magnificent birdlife that flocks here during the summer months.
Enjoy wonderful views of Shetland's spectacular seabirds and seal colonies. You'll get close to the 25,000 gannets, thousands of guillemots and hundreds of puffins, razorbills, black guillemots, gulls, shags and skuas at Noss National Nature Reserve. Along the way, you'll discover the fascinating coastline of the island of Bressay. The route changes each day, depending on the wind speed and direction to ensure the most sheltered water.
Weather permitting, you'll sail close to the magnificent rock arch of the Giant's Leg. Porpoises are sometimes seen and, very occasionally, whales, otters and dolphins make an appearance. Keep an eye out for the plentiful grey seals and harbor seals.
Notes:
Dress warmly in layers with a windproof and waterproof outer layer; bring a warm hat, gloves and a scarf. Bring binoculars. Tour duration may be extended on occasion. Minimum age is 5 years. The type of boat used is dependent on availability and may vary.
