Discover the beauty of the Lofoten Islands, where glaciers and other forces of nature have sculptured granite mountains, green meadows and chalky-white beaches, all under the magical glow of summer's midnight sun.
Travel through spectacular countryside and under the sea, by way of the Nappstraumen Tunnel, on a panoramic drive to the western end of Flakstadøy Island. Admire the Flakstad Church from outside and head to sandy Ramberg Beach to take photos.
Reine is one of the most idyllic and best-preserved fishing villages in the Lofoten archipelago, and has been a commercial center since 1743. Despite its remote location and population of just 307 year-round inhabitants, many thousands of people visit annually. Reine may well be the most beautiful village in Norway -- what do you think?
Å village boasts the shortest place name in the world. It was once the most important fishing village in the area; now, it is essentially an open-air museum. At the Å Fisheries Museum, you will see the old bakery, the boathouses, fishermen's cabins, and the house where cod liver oil was produced. Taste it if you're game -- it's supposed to be good for you!Lunch is served at a local restaurant before you return to the ship in Leknes.
Notes:
