This compact adventure deep into the heart of Neolithic Orkney is studded with natural wonders and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A panoramic overview brings you to the Ring of Brodgar and offers a glimpse of the Standing Stones of Stenness.
Cross the island to walk among the henge at the Ring of Brodgar — an iconic site that represents Orkney's neolithic heritage. The monument's age is uncertain, but it is assumed that it dates to about 2700 BC.
Stop at the Standing Stones of Stenness — the remnants of a vertical stone henge approximately 19 feet tall.
Continue to the charming town of Stromness. Enjoy a little free time among the winding streets and browse in the local shops.
Notes:
Dress warmly in layers with a windproof and waterproof outer layer; bring a warm hat, gloves and a scarf.
