Board a motorcoach for a short drive through Klaipeda to the ferry terminal, where you will take a 10-minute ferry ride across the Curonian Lagoon to the Curonian Spit, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its unspoiled nature.
Your destination, Juodkrante (Blackshore), is the oldest fishermen's village on the Spit, now a resort that has retained its old-world charm. Pass by Amber Bay, where amber was mined in the 19th century, and admire the traditional 100-year-old fishermen's homes.
The Hill of Witches presents a collection of witches, devils and fairytale monsters, all carved from oak. Sit on the bench said to cure all diseases and see legends come alive -- the giant Neringa, the Queen of Grass-Snakes Egle, the Thunder, and the Poacher -- sure to spark your imagination and creativity.
In Juodkrante, see the Evangelical Lutheran Church and visit the Gallery of Weathervanes. In the 19th century weathervanes were used as a special marking system on the top of the fishing boat Kurenas. Later, the weathervanes developed into an artistic phenomenon. You can choose to have free time instead and stroll along the lagoon's quay decorated with modern sculptures.
Before returning to Klaipeda pause to see honey-colored shores awarded a Blue Flag for being the finest beaches on the Baltic Sea.
