Experience everything firsthand and up close on this stroll through Sisimiut. Walk at a moderate pace, passing through the Old Town with its beautiful colonial houses. In the heart of town, you'll find Lake Nalunnguarfik. This is the nucleus of activity and dominates the winter cultural scene with dog-sledding and the meat market.
Your guide shares details of the history of Sisimiut and what modern life looks and feels like here. Got questions? Great -- your guide can't wait to share the answers.
Pass the Parasuk waterfront area, the Inuit Kayak Club, the old colony of Holsteinsborg, the colorful houses on Saaliimiip Aqq, the Town Square with a fountain and City Hall, Lake Nalunnguarfik, the Panigiit hide showroom, and the Taseralik Cultural Center.
Notes:
This tour is conducted entirely on foot. Terrain includes rocks, uneven surfaces, grass, steep inclines, gravel and steps. Guests wishing to stay in town to shop or explore the Museum independently (at own expense) are welcome to do so but must make their own way back to the ship. It is essential that you wear warm, layered clothing to fully enjoy and participate in this excursion. Outer layer should be windproof and waterproof. Bring gloves, a warm hat, and a scarf.
