A tour by bus showcases all the key landmarks of Ilulissat, including the Church of Zion, the Knud Rasmussen Museum, the Jørgen BrønlundBust memorial, and the hospital.
Next, you'll travel south toward the UNESCO World Heritage Site ice fjord of Disko Bay. The bus will park at the Icefiord Visitor Center.
From here you’ll have the option of relaxing with a coffee at the Icefiord Visitor Center (at your own expense) or joining a guided walk to Sermermiut, during which you’ll gain insights into the landscape, vegetation, and Inuit history from a scenic viewpoint.
Guests opting for the walk will set off further along the tundra boardwalk to the shoreline of Disko Bay (guides are placed along the way to answer any questions). The reward for the additional effort is a stunning view over the thousands of icebergs trapped in the bay. From Disko Bay, you will walk back to the parking area with time to explore the Icefiord Visitor Center and board a shuttle back to the port.
Please note: This is an easy hike. Restrooms are available at the Icefiord Visitor Center. Bring a mosquito net, insect repellent, and sturdy hiking shoes. Dress warmly in layers with a windproof and waterproof outer layer; bring a warm hat, gloves and a scarf.
