The tour starts from the harbor. Grab a pair of Nordic walking sticks. You'll then set out on a hike past various city sights to the old heliport. From there, turn toward the water and, from a viewpoint, look down the stunning icefjord. The stunning silence of the Sermermiut Valley and Disko Bay brings home to you the remoteness of this jaw-dropping place. The bay is visible for much of the hike.
Your guide shares some Inuit history and points out the remains of Inuit life in the area.
En route back to the ship, you will pause briefly at the Zion Church.
Notes:
This tour requires approximately 3.5 hours of walking. Participants must be physically fit. The terrain can be slippery when wet. Wear sturdy non-skid walking shoes. Terrain includes rocks, unformed trails, uneven surfaces, grass, inclines, gravel and steps. It is essential that you wear warm, layered clothing to fully enjoy and participate in this excursion. Outer layer should be windproof and waterproof. Bring gloves, a warm hat, and a scarf.
