Discover Amsterdam by way of its canals and its roads.
Begin with a coach transfer to a small harbor in Amsterdam and set out on a canalboat cruise to explore Amsterdam’s canals and waterways. The canal boat is the perfect way of getting around Amsterdam. With its wealth of waterways, Amsterdam is known as ‘the Venice of the north’. Amsterdam was planned and developed during the Golden Age of the 17th century—its central ring of canals was realized in a relatively brief timespan; so Amsterdam has many of the characteristics of a planned city, with neatly defined districts and straight canals.
On your canal cruise you will notice the architecture of Amsterdam’s houses. Lack of space dictated that they were built very tall and narrow—often not more than 30 feet wide—with narrow windows, decorative gable tops, and a pulley outside to transport larger objects to upper floors.
Re-board the coach with a panoramic drive past Amsterdam’s highlights.
As you travel, your guide will offer some interesting information so you can better understand the culture, the history and the habits of the Dutch.
Your tour ends back at the port of Ijmuiden.

Tour does not operate on holidays. This tour is available only to guests whose cruise does not begin or end in Amsterdam.
