Nothing beats a helicopter ride for offering a brilliant overview perspective of this vast and immensely fascinating part of the world.
Your outing begins at Honningsvåg Harbor, just a short walk from the ship. Take flight with your pilot and let yourself be wowed by the mesmerizing landscape of Norway's North Cape. Below you are spectacular views of the ocean, the coastline and landmarks, all the more impressive for being seen from above.
Admire a stunning bird's-eye view of Honningsvåg, and of course, circle the historic cliff and the famous globe. Although the plateau is often touted as the northernmost point in Europe, this distinction is actually held by another landmark -- Knivskjelodden. You will have the privilege of an airborne perspective before your tour continues over beautiful Tunes and across Tufjord.
Seize this opportunity to observe the famous Gjesværstappane -- an island teeming with Arctic birdlife -- before returning to Honningsvåg via Kjelvik.
Notes:
Actual flight time is approximately 20 minutes. Tour operates weather permitting; it can be canceled or re-routed at any time at the pilot's discretion. Some days, the North Cape plateau is covered in fog; there is a slight chance that you won't see it; instead, you will have the opportunity to view parts of the island that are rarely seen by tourists due to the lack of roads. Maximum weight is 260 lbs. Participants must negotiate a large step to board the helicopter; for safety reasons, guests cannot be carried onto the helicopter. Please realistically assess your physical fitness and ability prior to booking, as a refund will not be given for guests unable to board the aircraft. A five-seater helicopter will be used. The pilot will decide seating arrangements. Not all participants will be seated next to a window; however, everyone will enjoy a good view. The guided commentary during the flight is in English. Participants may have to walk 150 yards to the meeting point; some flights depart from the local airport, which is a five-minute drive from the meeting point on the pier. Guests may have a wait, either before or after the flight, if transport to/from the airport is shared.
