Here’s an exciting adventure at sea. Gear up with a warm coverall and a life vest and set out on a ride across Skjálfandi Bay. Thanks to its high speed, a RIB (rigid inflatable) boat can cover a large area in a short time in the bay.
Skjálfandi Bay is well known for its rich wildlife, with a broad variety of whale species, including acrobatic humpback whales and the world’s largest animal -- the blue whale. Nature is unpredictable, but your chances of seeing a whale on this tour average 99% throughout the season.
You’ll stop at Puffin Island during the puffins’ nesting season (around Apr 5 - Aug 20) to see thousands of these bright-beaked comical birds who seem to muddle through life in a constant state of surprise.
Your specialized guide offers interpretive commentary about any whales, birds and scenery you may encounter.
Notes:
Ride will be bumpy; guests who are pregnant and those with a back or neck condition are not allowed to participate. Minimum age is 8 years. Dress warmly in layers with a windproof and waterproof outer layer; bring a warm hat, gloves and a scarf. Wear closed-toe shoes with a rubber or non-skid sole. Wildlife sightings are likely but are not guaranteed.
