Discover the hidden gems of the north on this scenic treasure-trove tour.
You will visit Dettifoss -- Europe's most powerful waterfall, with up to 269 cubic meters of water per second falling over its high cliff, carrying mud and sand with it. The most spectacular canyon in the country is Hljóðaklettar (the Whispering Cliffs) -- a bizarre-looking group of crater plugs and basalt columns whose formations fire the imagination.
Continue to a place brimming with evidence of the extraordinary forces that have shaped this country -- glacial Jökulsa River National Park. Wonder at the horseshoe-shaped Ásbyrgi (Fortress of the Gods) landform -- the result of a catastrophic flood that took place thousands of years ago. According to ancient mythology, Ásbyrgi was shaped by the horseshoe of Sleipnir -- Odin's eight-legged horse. Whatever you believe, it is a beautiful place where Arctic and alpine vegetation abounds, and a peaceful pond is located at the foot of the gigantic cliffs.
A snack box is provided en route.
A panoramic drive takes you along the beautiful Tjörnes Peninsula back to Húsavik.
