Join your 4x4 vehicle driver/guide and set off to discover the rugged coastline of the peninsula and the charming fishing communities that hug the lower regions of the famous Snaefellsjokull Glacier. Stop at Skardsvík, an inlet surrounded by cliffs with white sand and blue water. A paved road leads to an inlet where a Viking grave was discovered in the 1960s.
Continue to Saxhóll Crater to climb up and enjoy great views.
Your next stop is at Djupalonssandur Beach. This black-pebble cove once housed around 70 fishing stations. Check out the large boulders that were once used to test the strength of fishermen. Can you lift them?
Pause in the quaint town of Malarif to see the old lighthouse; then, continue to Hellnar and Arnarstapi. The latter quaint fishing hamlet sits next to dazzling volcanic rock formations that include three blowholes. While walking along the awe-inspiring cliffs, notice the myriad of seabirds that nest in the area, including kittiwakes, fulmars, razorbills and a vast colony of Artic terns.
After a 30-minute trek, you'll reach Raudfelldsgja -- a fissure that allows access to a hidden stream source and a damp green chamber. Within the split, the walls are covered with vibrant green moss, and the imposing cliff walls loom on either side, providing a clear sense of Iceland's natural geology and terrain.
Following your adventure, return to the pier.
