A short shuttle ride brings you to a residential neighborhood of Nuuk. Stroll to the home of the family that will host you for a visit to their private home. A warm welcome awaits, along with cake and coffee. Enjoy the homemade baked goods while your hosts tell you about life in Greenland, past and present. Bring all your questions; they have answers. Your hosts speak English at a level that facilitates a meaningful dialog.
After your home visit, step back outside and walk approximately 15 minutes with your guide back to the shuttle stop in the city center and ride the bus back to the ship. Guests wishing to stay in town to shop or explore independently are welcome to do so but must make their own way back to the ship.
Notes:
Limited tourism infrastructure is part of the charm here, and you are trading breadth of experience for authentic interaction. Please bring your spirit of adventure and bear with any language difficulties your guide may encounter and with any operational surprises that may crop up. Participants with food allergies and vegans are unlikely to be able to enjoy the homemade cake; you are welcome to bring your own snack. Tour requires approximately 1.75 miles of walking.
