Travel directly from the pier to the Apes' Den -- home of the light-fingered Barbary apes. These are the only primates living in the wild in all of Europe, and you will see these tailless monkeys roaming freely.
Visit the Great Siege Tunnels. This labyrinth of passageways and rooms running through the rock is carved out of solid limestone and represents perhaps the most extraordinary defense network in the world. You will also see the first buildings ever constructed by the British in Gibraltar.
Of great historical value, the City Under Siege exhibition depicts scenes of how the civilian population lived during some very hard times. Many fascinating stories have been passed down through generations of how the earliest British settlers in Gibraltar coped with life.
A drive through the Old Town takes you to Nelson's Anchorage and Europa Point -- the southernmost point of continental Europe.
Guests wishing to stay in town for duty-free shopping or to explore independently are welcome to do so but must make their own way back to the ship.
Notes:
Wear comfortable walking shoes. Participants can use a mobility aid to reach the transportation; then, it will be stored in the cruise terminal until the tour returns to the ship. Weather and atmospheric conditions vary; no guarantee is offered with regard to visibility or views on any particular day.
