Gibraltar is best appreciated on foot, in the company of a knowledgeable guide. Take the cable car to the top of the rock. You'll likely be greeted at the top by a cadre of curious and light-fingered Barbary Apes.
View the huge catchment area and Catalan Bay before walking along a wooded path to admire St Michael's Cave. A technology-led installation creates a brand-new immersive experience inside this natural attraction. The Awakening highlights the history of the famous cave, explaining how the geological formation came to be through 360° light projection combined with immersive spatial audio.
A minibus will take you to the Apes' Den, home of the Barbary apes.
Visit Princess Caroline's Battery and the entrance to the Upper Galleries of the Great Siege Tunnels.
You will drive past the Moorish Castle and enter the heart of the city.
Guests wishing to stay in town for duty-free shopping or to explore independently are welcome to do so but must make their own way back to the ship.
Notes:
Wear comfortable walking shoes. Terrain includes even and uneven surfaces, flagstones, inclines, gravel, and more than 75 steps to exit the cave. Scooters, wheelchairs, and walkers cannot be accommodated on tour. Participants can use a mobility aid to reach the transportation; then, it will be stored in the cruise terminal until the tour returns to the ship. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations. The cable car is a popular attraction; expect delays. The Cable Car can close at short notice due to high winds, resulting in a last-minute cancelation of the tour. Weather and atmospheric conditions vary; no guarantee is offered with regard to visibility or views on any particular day.
