From the pier, travel by coach on a panoramic drive through the village of Geiranger. Watch for the charming octagonal church, built in 1842, before the road leads uphill through some very steep bends.
Your destination is the trailhead at Hole, where your hike begins. Follow your guide along an improved path through a beautiful natural environment to Storseter Falls. Walk behind the waterfall for a breathtaking view of the water hurtling down the mountain.
Continue on foot to Westerås Mountain Farm. Westerås sits high on the mountain slope 1,200 feet above the world-famous Geirangerfjord. Take in the surrounding majestic views of soaring mountains and the fjord itself. Enjoy a snack of coffee and fresh-baked waffles -- a delicious, well-deserved treat.
Head to the Westerås Lookout for a view of your ship below before you return to the coach and relax on the panoramic drive back to the ship.
Notes:
In Spring (April & May), some viewpoints or attractions are inaccessible due to snow, causing roads to remain closed; this varies greatly from season to season. An alternative viewpoint or attraction may be substituted. The onboard Shore Excursions team will provide the latest details approximately 48 hours prior to the call at Geiranger. Tour may be canceled at short notice. Wear sturdy hiking shoes. Participants must be in good physical condition. This is a demanding hike; bring hiking sticks. Distance covered is about 1.5 miles each way. Terrain includes gravel, muddy, grassy surfaces, and uneven, rocky, and steep steps. Please realistically assess your physical fitness and ability prior to booking.
