Your coach climbs the winding mountain road from Geiranger and up the hairpin bend road to the summit of Mt Dalsnibba. Here, you will take in the incomparable views of Geirangerfjord -- a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With each turn in the road, the panorama unfolds -- mountains and forests, streams and tiny towns clinging bravely to the steep hillsides.

The Norwegian Fjord Center seen from above resembles a spearhead pointing to the fjord. The design was well chosen since 'geir' means 'to point'. At the Fjord Farms exhibit, you might believe you've been transported back in time 100 years as you encounter the challenges and dangers facing rural dwellers here in Norway. The Avalanche Experience exposes these massive forces of nature that obliterate everything in their path. Fjord Communication represents the fjord boats and the quayside milieu. The Geiranger Road Experience shows the building of the Geiranger road.

Walk down the hill back to the pier (15 minutes) past the octagonal Geiranger church, or return to the ship by coach.

Notes:

In Spring (April & May), some viewpoints or attractions are inaccessible due to snow, causing roads to remain closed; this varies greatly from season to season. An alternative viewpoint or attraction may be substituted. The onboard Shore Excursions team will provide the latest details approximately 48 hours prior to the call at Geiranger. The Mount Dalsnibba road may close at short notice in adverse weather conditions. Views are weather-dependent.
