Embark the Flåm Railway for a ride on this masterpiece of engineering. The tracks climb from sea level to 2,800 feet, crossing back and forth over rivers and passing through 20 tunnels.
Leave the train to take photos of the impressive Kjosfossen Waterfall.
At Vatnahalsen, walk approximately 300 feet to the Vatnahalsen Mountain Hotel. Coffee or tea is served with homemade waffles with sour cream and jam. You'll have 60-90 minutes of free time afterward to enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings.
Reboard the train for the return ride to Flåm.
Notes:
Tour is non-refundable 21 days prior to the call at Flåm. Wear sturdy, non-skid walking shoes. Terrain includes gravel paths and steep inclines. Not advisable for guests with mobility limitations. Dress warmly in layers with a wind- and waterproof outer layer. Due to the limited availability of guides in Flåm, only one guide will accompany the train ride. The time at the Vatnahalsen Hotel is determined by the train schedule and will vary. The rail stations are open-air and have no facilities. The Flåm train is not exclusive to Holland America Line guests.
