Begin your day with a drive in the idyllic village of Flåm at the head of the Aurlandsfjord, a branch of the mighty Sognefjord. Soon you will reach Gudvangen on the other side of the mountains by means of two long tunnels, the longest more than 6 miles.
Continue up the Nærøy valley following the well-known salmon river, on both sides waterfalls plunge down the cliff sides. You will soon arrive at the shores of the beautiful Oppheim Lake, and on through woodland and fertile areas to the spectacular Tvinde Waterfall that cascades down the steep cliffside. Here pause for a photo stop before we return to Gudvangen via Norway's steepest road constructed already in 1849, the Stalheim serpentine road with 13 hairpin bends. Arriving in Gudvangen, visit the Viking community where people have chosen to dedicate their lifestyle to the Viking Era. You will experience a Viking village as it really could have been at a time more than a thousand years ago. Let the Vikings impress you with thier skills and know-how in handicrafts and history and try some for yourself.
Reboard the coach and return to Flåm to your ship.
