From Falmouth, you’ll travel alongside the River Fal and Carrick Roads, the estuary for seven rivers. The scenic route takes you through peaceful countryside, past small villages, granite farmhouses and hedged fields threaded by narrow roads, passing the occasional remains of old copper and tin mines, as well as the hamlets of Helston and Marazion.
Visit a local hotel for a Cornish cream tea. Enjoy the ritual of freshly brewed tea and a freshly baked scone served with clotted cream and jam. Clotted cream has been a specialty of Cornwall since the 14th century. Today, cream teas are a British institution.
You’ll stop to view St Michael’s Mount. This dramatic, rocky island once boasted a Benedictine priory that was inspired by the famous Mont St-Michel in Normandy. The Mount has been the private home of the St Aubyn family for more than three centuries. Snap a photo from the shoreline near Marazion.
Notes:
Tour consists mainly of sightseeing from the transportation. Terrain includes steps at the cream tea venue.
