It’s a scenic panoramic drive to the idyllic village of Gudvangen, passing waterfalls, mountains, and the queen of the fjords -- Hardangerfjord.
Continue up the Nærøy Valley, following the well-known Salmon River with waterfalls on both sides and unrelentingly steep cliffs. Follow the Nærøy River sandwiched between towering mountains.
Soon, you’ll reach Gudvangen, the Place of Gods, adjacent to Nærøyfjord. Visit the Viking community here, where inhabitants have chosen to dedicate their lifestyle to the Viking era. You will experience a Viking village as it really was more than a thousand years ago. Let these present-day Vikings impress you with their skills and know-how in handicrafts and history. If you feel like trying an activity, get stuck into axe throwing or archery to show everyone how it’s done. Or maybe you’d prefer to chat with the Vikings and find out what makes their lifestyle so different.
Lunch is served during your visit.
Afterward, you’ll drive back to Eidfjord via the same scenic route. Pause for a photo at a waterfall along the way.
