Your excursion starts from the pier in Eidfjord — a charming village at the head of the fjord built on sand and gravel moraines from the major Ice Age. Your coach follows the road along the River Eid, well known for excellent trout and salmon fishing.
At the far end of the Upper Eidfjord Lake, you'll stop at the Fossli Hotel to see the famous Vøringfossen Waterfall. A path leads down to a viewing platform offering a stunning view of the waterfall as it cascades down into a deep canyon almost 600 feet below.
Return to Eidfjord and continue to Simadalen. Here, you will change from bus to boat for a 45-minute fjord cruise.
Heading back toward Eidfjord, you'll see waterfalls, steep mountains, and the Kjeåsen mountain farm, perched like an eagle's nest approximately 2,000 feet above the fjord.
Notes:
In Spring (April & May), some viewpoints or attractions are inaccessible due to snow, causing roads to remain closed; this varies greatly from season to season. An alternative viewpoint or attraction may be substituted. Weather and atmospheric conditions vary; no guarantee is offered with regard to visibility or views on any particular day. The onboard Shore Excursions team will provide the latest details approximately 48 hours prior to the call at Eidfjord. Tour may be cancelled at short notice. This tour is non-refundable and non-transferable from 72 hours before the ship's call in Eidfjord. Dress warmly in layers with a windproof and waterproof outer layer; bring a warm hat, gloves and a scarf. Children under the age of 3 must be secured in a child's car seat on the transportation. These are not available through the tour operator; you must bring your own from home.
