Iceland's scenery is unlike anywhere else, with mountains, glaciers, lava formations, moss-covered cliffs, and deep valleys surrounding Djúpivogur. This outing introduces you to this stunning visual feast.
Board a small coach and head to the black beaches -- Iceland is one of only a few countries with beaches that feature black sand. It is a dramatic and beautiful characteristic of the landscape here and speaks to the volcanic nature of this gorgeous country.
You'll explore the small islands located north of Djúpivogur village. In the past, these islands were accessible only by boat. Today, you will walk out to them via natural causeways formed by slow changes in tidal and current conditions that have led to deposits of sand and coastal debris building up over many years.
Finish up at Kiðhólma Island before walking back along the beach to where the coach will be waiting.
Notes:
Terrain includes a gravel road and sand. Wear comfortable walking/hiking shoes suited to a sandy environment. Tour operates rain or shine but may be canceled by the operator in the event of extremely bad weather or unsuitable conditions.
