Drive through Cádiz for an introduction to the city's most important monuments and places.
At the beautiful village of Vejer de la Frontera, you'll have time to explore the hilly cobblestone streets, hidden patios and typical houses on foot. Shop for souvenirs or try some of the local specialties (at your own expense) during your free time.
Take the scenic Atlantic Route, packed with stunning countryside scenery and pass through La Breña Nature Park. This protected pine forest offers impressive views from its cliffs up to 300 feet tall.
If time and traffic permit, you'll pause for photos at the Cape Trafalgar lighthouse, where the famous and infamous Battle of Trafalgar took place in 1805. In this encounter, the Franco-Spanish troops fought against the English side led by Lord Horatio Nelson, which ended in English victory and the deaths of hundreds of soldiers.
Conil de la Frontera is a village between forests of pine groves and the sea. It is a typical Andalusian town with Arabian influence evident in the narrow streets and low white houses. Its courtyards and small squares attract legions of visitors who come to enjoy the beaches and the surf. Enjoy some free time here to explore.
Don't miss the chance to taste local specialties such as pescaito (fried fish) before you drive back to Cádiz and the ship.
