See the main sights of Bergen before ascending the city's most impressive mountain by cable car to view the city from above.
Take a leisurely drive through Bergen with your guide pointing out some interesting landmarks. These include the Grieghallen, the fish market, the Bryggen pier once inhabited by the Hanseatic merchants, and the Nordes Peninsula.
The city of Bergen sits among seven mountains. At 2,109 feet, Mount Ulriken is the tallest and most spectacular of these. Head to the cable car station and board a car for the seven-minute ride to the top. As you ascend, look down to see views of Norway's second-largest city stretching out below you. At the summit of Mount Ulriken, refreshments of coffee or tea and a slice of cake are served in the stylish restaurant. The view from here is a sensational panorama of the city, coastal landscape, fjords and mountains.
Notes:
Tour requires a walk of approximately 200 yards. Terrain includes uneven surfaces, inclines, 20 steps at the cable car station, and 15 steps to access the restroom at the restaurant. There may be a long line for the cable car. There is mainly standing room only in the car; each car accommodates up to 50 people. Tour operates rain or shine but may be canceled by the operator in the event of extremely bad weather or unsuitable conditions. Weather and atmospheric conditions vary; no guarantee is offered with regard to visibility or views on any particular day.
