Drive from Brest to La Pointe St-Mathieu in the far west of Brittany. Overlooking an extremely important, strategic stretch of coast connecting the Atlantic to the Bay of Brest, Pointe St-Mathieu is all about dramatic views. It is also home to a clutch of very beautiful buildings. This is the westernmost point of mainland France. An important historic landmark here is the lighthouse -- a highly symbolic monument for sailors of Brittany and around the globe.
Enjoy a taste of Brittany at the local Biscuiterie. This is where utterly delicious Breton butter cookies are produced, along with a wide range of marine products, taking advantage of Brittany's proximity to and relationship with the sea.
