This lovely panoramic drive takes you to Plouguerneau, where the tallest stone lighthouse in Europe stands proudly. It is an impressive structure guarding the Abers Coast, finely decked out in golden sandy beaches and ever-changing landscapes. Since the 5th century, this Léon landscape has upheld the history of Welsh and Irish immigrants who landed to bring Christianity to Brittany. It is called the Coast of Legends, and today you will discover its peculiar mixture of small capes, rocky islets and large estuaries (abers).
Just before reaching the little harbor of Porsall, you will see the deeply incised coastlines of Aber Wrac'h and the Aber Benoit. Explore the rocky promontory of Saint Mathieu Point and the ruins of Saint Mathieu Abbey. The scenic beauty here weaves a magical web. Enjoy some free time to wander about and breathe the air laden in equal parts with sea salt and history.
Notes:
Wear comfortable walking shoes.
