Visit a traditional farm and sample delicious local delicacies for a true slice of authentic Norwegian life.
Woldstad Farm is beautifully situated in Isfjord and has been owned and run by the Woldstad family since 1654. The farm, high in the mountains, now consists of 12 buildings, ranging from a boat house to the summer barn. Some of the buildings date back to the 1500s.
Your friendly host greets you and will provide you with an insight into life on the farm. During your visit, experience Norwegian culture up close with tales of the farm's history, a taste of homemade specialties, and a selection of local produce. The barn has been lovingly converted into a charming restaurant. Take a seat here for a snack of svele (a thick pancake) with homemade jams, local cheese, and apple and blueberry pie.
After a little instruction, you will also have the opportunity to try making your own svele. Questions are encouraged as you get to see how life has changed in this often challenging yet beautiful environment.
Before leaving the farm, you will have a little time at leisure to visit the farm shop and local art gallery.
Notes:
Tour requires approximately 10 minutes of walking. Terrain includes uneven ground, stones, grass, gravel, inclines and steps. The transfer to the farm is unguided. The refreshments may vary depending on seasonal availability.
