Head through an area of rugged mountains and peaceful nature for an understanding of how the mythology surrounding Norway's trolls originated.
Departing from Ålesund by coach, you'll take a panoramic drive southeast into dramatic Troll territory. Follow the fjord toward Romsdalen, enjoying beautiful scenery from the road. As you pass through the village of Sjøholt, you'll be reminded of the sense of community that characterizes the small villages of Norway. Take a look at the traditional, colorful wooden houses built around the majestic mountains typical of the Western Norwegian landscape.
You will soon find yourself in an area renowned for both salmon fishing and furniture making; the furniture crafted here is exported worldwide.
Cross a 100-year-old bridge and pause in the center of the Trolltinden mountain range to celebrate Norway with a typical buffet lunch of hot and cold dishes, desserts and coffee. A bottle of mineral water or light beer is included.
Take the same route back to the vibrant city of Ålesund with a short sightseeing drive through the city en route back to the ship.
