Just 23 miles south of Loreto on the Sea of Cortez are the craggy foothills of the Giganta mountain range. Lace up your hiking boots and hit the trail for a trek into the heart of the hills. You'll discover inspiring nature trails while your eco-oriented tour guide shares the desert's secrets and the great biodiversity of flora and fauna that are part of this gorgeous canyon.
Photographers and outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate the dramatic landscape of towering cliffs, massive boulders, sprawling canyons, babbling springs and mirror-calm pools. Despite long periods of drought, this ecosystem is far from lifeless. Your guide will point out the flora and fauna that thrive here -- birds, frogs, dragonflies, squirrels, bighorn sheep, butterflies, salamanders, and a host of beautiful creepy crawlies.
Large natural pools offer clear, refreshing water. Enjoy a light snack and beverage here before the hike out.
