Start your off-road adventure with a transfer to the safari starting point. Here, you’ll be greeted by your drivers who will brief you on what to expect during your safari. After the formalities are complete, climb in your sturdy 4x4 Jeep, buckle-up and head off the beaten track into stunning countryside to discover Velebit, the largest mountain range in Croatia.
Your first stop on this 4x4 adventure is a spectacular canyon along the picturesque Zrmanja River where you will have time to take photos and enjoy the scenery.
Hit the road again to the site where the Western movie ‘Winnetou’, was filmed in the 1960s. From this breathtaking vantage point, you’ll be able to take in the sheer beauty of the Zrmanja River. Far below, the river winds its way through Dalmatia and empties into the Adriatic Sea.
Then it’s time to journey through southern Velebit to a large valley where you will stop and head out on foot to the Mamet Pit, a large hole that forms the mouth of a cave complex below and is popular with basejumpers looking for a thrill.
Enjoy a local lunch before crossing to the north side of Velebit and Alan Pass which offers a magnificent view of the Velebit Channel.
Re-join your bus on Maslenica Bridge for the return journey to Zadar.
Notes: Ride will be bumpy. Pregnant women or guests with back or neck conditions are not allowed to participate. Minimum age is 8 years. Each vehicle seats 6 passengers and is equipped with seat belts, which must be worn. Guests do not drive vehicles, as each jeep has its own driver. Restroom facilities are limited. Driver’s English knowledge is basic, so commentary during the drive will be very limited.
