Travel to Slovenia's Lake Bled and to Ljubljana -- the capital of Slovenia.
Upon arrival in Ljubljana, you'll set out on a walking tour through the political, social and cultural capital of Slovenia. In 1511 and 1895, massive earthquakes struck the city causing a flurry of building activity. Today, this historic city center boasts an eclectic blend of Renaissance, Baroque and Art Nouveau architecture. It is utterly charming.
Your walking tour skirts the foot of Castle Hill and passes the Town Hall, St Nicholas' Cathedral, Mestni Trg Square and Robba's Fountain, modeled after Bernini's Fountain of the Rivers in Rome's Piazza Navona.
Watch for the city's famous Triple Bridge, leading to the delights of the utterly exquisite Old Town. Continue to the most photographed bridge in Ljubljana -- the Dragon Bridge (1901), built when Slovenia belonged to the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
Continue to Lake Bled -- a welcoming destination full of beauty, mystery and ancient legends. The fairytale surroundings here include distant snow-capped mountains reflected in the sapphire-blue lake and a castle perched on the side of a cliff. The vistas across the crystalline blue lake are stunning, with panoramic views of Bled island and beyond. You'll have some free time to walk along the lakeshore, sample some of the local cuisine (at your own expense) or enjoy a visit to the medieval castle (also at your own expense), built on a precipice overlooking the lake.
Please note: This tour is offered for guests continuing their cruise with us and is not available for guests disembarking on this date in Trieste. This tour cannot be combined with Airport or Hotel Transfers.
