Begin your tour with a drive to Marseille, with sightseeing along the way. You will travel via the J.F. Kennedy Corniche road, which follows the natural contours of the coastline and offers lovely views of offshore islands dominated by the surrounding Massif.
Passing Pharo Palace Park situated on the promontory at the harbor entrance, you will stop for photos at the Old Harbor in Marseille.
At Notre Dame de la Garde, those who would like to climb about 160 steps will appreciate a 360-degree panoramic view of Marseille from the top. If you don't wish to climb, you will still have a photo opportunity from this wonderful viewpoint. The Basilica was built in the mid-19th century in Roman-Byzantine style.
45 minutes away, discover Aix-en-Provence with a guided walk along the Cours Mirabeau. This wide avenue, shaded by trees, is the hub of Aix and forms a verdant tunnel of foliage protecting the locals from the hot Provencal sun.
Visit Saint Sauveur Cathedral, a curious building where architectural styles from the 5th through the 17th centuries can be seen side by side.
Take advantage of some free time to purchase lunch (at your own expense) and for shopping before you return to Toulon.
Notes:
Travel time is approximately 1¼ hours each way. Wear comfortable walking shoes.
Use of an audio headset (included) will enhance your tour experience.
