Begin your tour with a drive to the ruins of Butrint -- one of the many ancient Greek colonies on the Illyrian coast that later became a key city in the Roman Empire. Once an important Greco-Roman port city and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Butrint was inhabited continuously from the 7th century BC until it was abandoned in the 18th century. View the circular baptistery from the 6th century AD, paved with fine mosaics.
Continue with a scenic drive to view the exterior of the Mesopotamian Monastery. The interior is still undergoing restoration. Take photos of this fine example of a Byzantine fortified monastery, originally built in the 12th century.
Taste some local delicacies at a restaurant before you reboard your coach and return to Sarande.
Wear comfortable walking shoes.
