Butrint is the most-visited place in Albania, claiming one of the richest environments in the country in terms of biodiversity. A high number of different natural habitats and landscapes makes it the ideal home to a wide diversity of species. Birds are one of the most interesting and diverse groups of fauna found here. More than 250 bird species are registered, drawing a huge number of birdwatchers to the area.
Your professional ornithologist guide offers a short introduction to the wildlife present in the area, with an emphasis on the rare species; then, you will walk the Water Birds Trail to Ali Pasha Castle -- the best place for the observation of shorebirds. The trail itself is pleasant and easy. Take the Song Birds Trail next. It takes you through the village of Shendelli to Bufi Lake, with pretty landscape views and a wide diversity of avian life.
Enjoy a refreshment before you return to Saranda.
