In 1996, the Canal du Midi was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its extraordinary beauty and its continuous use as a functioning marine highway. Discover it today from a waterside perspective.
From Sète you will take the coastal road through the small village of Colombiers.
Board a canalboat and cruise along the famous Canal du Midi on a 60-minute journey that allows you to relax and relish the serenity of this tree-lined waterway.
End your ride at Fonserannes. You'll leave the canalboat here and follow your guide on a charming 30-minute walk to visit the locks on foot. With any luck, you'll see the locks functioning as there are usually boats waiting to traverse them.
Notes:
The cruise portion of the tour does not pass through the locks. You will visit the locks on foot. This tour is very popular and typically sells out. Alternative tour(s) with similar content may be available, including Waterways of Languedoc: the Herault River, Canal du Midi & Etang de Thau. The tour itinerary may vary.
