Begin with a drive to Montpellier, a city where a thousand years of trade and culture account for an ever-energetic spirit. Montpellier's university was founded in the 13th century and is known for its excellent medical school.
Leave the coach for a one-hour walking tour through the old part of the city, which dates back to the 12th century. Buildings from the 17th and 18th centuries line narrow streets and quaint squares.
Schedule permitting, you will have free time at the Place de la Comedié, Montpelier's central hub. Continue with a short drive to Château Flaugergues, which belongs to Monsieur and Madame de Colbert, and enjoy an exclusive visit to the oldest of the Montpellier folies. Flaugergues exudes the charm of a house that has been home to the same family for many years. During the visit, you can admire the monumental staircase, 17th-century Brussels tapestries, and beautiful French-style gardens with rare varieties of trees.
Taste the wines produced by the estate.
