Begin your tour with an approximately 90-minute scenic drive to the city of Arles.
A walk through the old town's narrow streets reveals St Trophime Church -- a masterpiece of the late Provençal-Romanesque style. Pass the Town Hall, rebuilt in 1673 with its obelisk from Arles' Roman circus. At Forum Square, see the center of town -- a meeting point over the centuries for artists such as Van Gogh.
Walk to the Amphitheater dating back to the days when the Romans occupied Arles, and see the antique theater, built during the Augustine Age, which held 7,000 spectators and is now enclosed in a walled garden.
The next part of the drive takes you to the amazing eagle's-nest village of Les Baux, built on a rocky spur in the Alpilles range. After lunch at a local restaurant at the foot of the village, enjoy some free time to stroll in Les Baux before returning to the ship.
Notes:
Tour requires considerable walking; wear comfortable walking shoes.
