From the pier, it's a 45-minute ride by motorcoach to the remarkable ruins of Pompeii, perfectly preserved since the eruption of Mt Vesuvius in AD 79.
Learn about the excavation technique and what the residents were doing at the time of the eruption. You'll gain an insight into the lives of the ancient Romans as you discover baths, theatres, temples, markets and the huge forum.
A stop at a local cameo factory is included before your return to the ship, and the present-day, by motorcoach.

Shade is limited; to avoid sunburn, wear light, long clothing suitable for use as a cover-up. Bring a hat and sunglasses; wear biodegradable sunscreen. Bring bottled water. Wear comfortable walking shoes. A significant amount of walking is required. Backpacks and large bags are not allowed inside the Pompeii excavation site. Use of an audio headset (included) will enhance your tour experience.
