This tour is designed to be accessible for all guests, including those using a wheelchair. It ensures a seamless and enriching experience, allowing you to explore the best of Rome.
Journey to and past some of Rome's most iconic landmarks, offering a perfect blend of art, history, and breathtaking views.
Your adventure begins with a visit to the Capitoline Museum — the world's earliest public museum. It is home to an extraordinary collection of art and antiquities, including the iconic Capitoline She-Wolf. The museum traces the fascinating history of Rome from its legendary origins to the grandeur of the Imperial era. Admire masterpieces by renowned artists such as Caravaggio, Rubens, and Titian while enjoying sweeping views of the Roman Forum and the Colosseum from the museum's hilltop location.
Next, a short drive brings you to the charming Piazza Navona — one of the most beautiful squares in Rome. Here, you'll have time to appreciate its atmosphere, elegant Baroque architecture, and impressive fountains, including Bernini's Four Rivers fountain.
Afterward, make the most of some free time to purchase lunch (at your own expense) — a chance to relax and recharge.
The day continues with a visit to the Pantheon — a true architectural wonder. Explore this ancient temple, which has stood the test of time for nearly two millennia and learn about its remarkable history and engineering feats.
Return to the ship at Civitavecchia.
Notes:
Lunch is not included. You will have time to purchase lunch at your own expense during the tour. This tour is designed to be accessible for all guests, including those using a wheelchair (the tour operator suggests you bring a companion to assist, as guides are not allowed to push wheelchairs). Companions can book the same tour under the title Accessible Rome: Capitoline Museum, Piazza Navona & Pantheon (Companion). The tour route avoids stairs; however, the nature of access may differ from the standards you are familiar with at home. Accessible bathrooms with wide doors are available along the tour route. An accessible vehicle with a wheelchair lift or ramp is used for transportation. Maximum weight is 300 lbs. The number of accessible vehicles available is extremely limited; make your accessible shore excursion reservations as far in advance as possible. Guests requiring accessible transportation, please complete the Special Services form at https://book.hollandamerica.com/specialServices/login.action; this will ensure that suitable transportation is in place for your tour. Restoration/maintenance work may be underway at any venue at any time without prior notice; scaffolding can obscure views. Tour does not operate on holidays.
