Start with a scenic drive to Paladini, a small village hidden in inland Istria.
Upon arrival at an estate, meet your hosts, the Karlic family. They have been hunting for truffles for generations and will tell you all about truffles, the tradition of truffle hunting, and their highly-intelligent dogs.
Taste delicious truffle products, all prepared by the family, including Istrian cheese, sausages, pâté, honey and olive oil. The highlight of your tasting experience is a live interactive presentation of making famous Istrian fritaja scrambled eggs with truffles.
Next, your hosts will take you on a truffle hunt in their own woods, where they grow and harvest black truffles. Both white and black truffles are found in the area and are considered to be among the best-quality truffles in Istria. The thrill and excitement of the hunt helps you to understand the family's lifestyle and why truffles are their chosen way of life.
