Explore Ancient Rhodes with the History Channel.
This History Channel-inspired tour of Rhodes begins with a scenic panoramic drive to Lindos, where myth and history intertwine. Picture the Colossus of Rhodes, a bronze statue of Helios, the sun god, and one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, towering 120 feet at the harbor's entrance. Though toppled by an earthquake, its legacy endures as a symbol of ancient innovation.
Climb to the Acropolis of Lindos, home to the 4th-century BC Temple of Athena Lindia, or hire a donkey (at your own expense). From the top, enjoy sweeping views of St Paul's Bay, where the Apostle preached Christianity in AD 51.
After lunch, explore Rhodes' Old Town through the historic Amboise Gate. Wander medieval streets filled with stories of knights and ancient civilizations.
Notes:
Tour requires considerable walking. Terrain includes even and uneven surfaces, cobblestones, inclines, gravel, grass, and more than 250 steps. Please realistically assess your physical fitness and ability prior to booking, as the walk is very steep and slippery. Wear sturdy non-skid walking shoes. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations. Use of an audio headset (included) will enhance your tour experience.
