The Gulf of Naples' legendary beauty is your constant companion on this full-day adventure.
Board a jetfoil ferry and cruise to the colorful isle of Procida, named the Italian Capital of Culture. Step ashore at the port of Marina Grande to explore on foot this iconic enclave. Walk through the historic center with its fragrant lemon groves, photograph the sights, and visit the local craft shops.
Then, hop into a pre-paid taxi for a drive to the medieval village of Terra Murata to admire its 16th-century castle and the Abbey of San Michele Arcangelo.
You will visit the tiny port of Corricella. This picturesque seaside village has been the backdrop to several Hollywood movies and is famed for its candy-hued homes, which local fishermen painted to be recognized from afar when they were at sea.
Your day includes a refreshing soft drink and lingue di Procida -- the must-try sweet treat on the island. Alarmingly, these are also known as lingue di bue (ox tongues) -- thankfully only because of their oblong shape. Those wanting a more substantial meal can purchase lunch at their own expense at a myriad of cafés.
Return is by scheduled jetfoil ferry to Naples to conclude this memorable day.
Notes:
Private taxis (pre-paid) are used for transportation. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations or a heart condition. Tour requires moderate walking. Terrain includes even and uneven surfaces, cobblestones, inclines, and many steps. The jetfoil ride to Procida is approximately 45 minutes each way. Guests prone to motion sickness should consider this before booking and/or take appropriate medication. Lunch is not included. You will have time to purchase lunch at your own expense during the tour. Bring local currency or credit cards.
