Travel to the foot of Mt Vesuvius and walk through the remarkable ruins of Pompeii -- widely considered by archaeologists to be the finest example of an ancient Roman town. With the eruption of Mt Vesuvius in AD 79, the excavated city was buried beneath tons of ash and lava. As you tour Pompeii on foot, watch for baths, theatres, temples, markets, and the forum.
Time permitting visit a local cameo factory before your return to the ship.

Traffic can be unpredictable; your patience is greatly appreciated if a delay extends the tour duration. Participants must be able to walk for 1.5 miles at Pompeii. Additionally, the coach parking area is a 15-minute walk (each way) to/from the entrance. Terrain includes even and uneven surfaces, cobblestones, inclines, gravel, grass, and steps. Pompeii is not wheelchair accessible. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Shade is limited; to avoid sunburn, wear light, long clothing suitable for use as a cover-up. Bring a hat and sunglasses; wear biodegradable/reef-safe sunscreen. Bring bottled water. Backpacks and large bags are not allowed inside the Pompeii excavation site; lockers are not available. Use of an audio headset (included) will enhance your tour experience.
