Drive through the Provençal countryside to the charming village of Lourmarin. Leave the coach and join your guide for a walk through the narrow streets. Meander along cobblestone alleys, past fountains, cafes and restaurants while taking in a magnificent view of the castle.

Reboard your coach for the ride to the gorgeous village of Roussillon -- reputedly one of the most beautiful villages in France. It is situated on the highest hills between the Coulon Valley and the Vaucluse plateau, with much of its earthen-toned architecture crafted in stone from the nearby ochre quarry. A palette of reds, oranges, yellows and pinks contrasts beautifully with the green of the pine trees. After a guided walking tour here, enjoy some free time to enjoy this charming place and purchase lunch (at your own expense).

Next up is a drive to Coustellet. Visitors flock here in the middle of summer to view a host of lavender fields marching across the landscape, forming an unrepentant sea of purple. Lavender is the iconic symbol of Provence, and today it will all make perfect sense. Visit a nearby lavender factory/museum to discover the history and uses of lavender amid an impressive backdrop.

Notes:

Tour operates mid-June through mid-July only. Blossoms and color vary with weather conditions, elevation and soil moisture, so no guarantee is made concerning views and blossoms. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Walking is required over cobblestones, inclines and uneven surfaces.
